"It is fascinating how the mind, body, and soul interact. The mind is so fragile and sensitive, yet so strong and complex. However, fascination is not what convinced me to pursue this practice. A sight of abused teens in Baltimore is what settled it in my heart. During a psychiatry rotation in 2010, I saw a group of young teenagers, all of them mistreated and abused in some fashion. Looking for answers outside themselves. This pivotal moment served to cement my occupation as a psychiatrist. Like the literal meaning of the word, I wanted to be a 'healer of the psyche'."
